Start learning Aikido today!

AIKIDO is a traditional Japanese budo, ie a martial art concerned not only with practical technique, but also with the positive effect that the unity of mind, body and spirit attained through training can have on daily life.

The goal of Aikido is self-development. There are no competitions, and strong emphasis is placed on helping each other in every way. The dojo - the practice hall - is a community.

CREDENTIALS
We are members of the British Aikido Board, the governing body for Aikido in the UK.

We are also members of the Aikikai Foundation, the World Aikido Headquarters associated with the Founder's (O'sensei Morihei Ueshiba) family.

TRAINING EMPHASIS
Training is slow and careful. It is important to build the individual by degrees. There is no need to be fit or strong to begin.

HOW TO START:
The dojo has classes every day, at which anyone is welcome. This includes beginners. All you need to do is turn up.

Some students prefer the idea of a beginners course, in which they attend at the same time each week, are part of a committed group, and are with an instructor that they can get to know. The next course dates can be found here and the cost is from £50 for 10x2 hour sessions (a martial arts suit is included in the price).

There is also a special concept based beginner's course taught by one of our most experienced instructors Joe Rossabi (nidan) at 8pm on thursdays which costs £60 for 10x2 hour sessions. The next start date is 25 Aug 08.

If you cannot make a committment to the same time each week, there is no problem about attendance as and when you can. The instructors and senior students will give you every assistance.

If you need more help and advice, feel free to call at the dojo during any class or speak to sensei Andy on 079 4959 0788
